Neutral Bay is a gorgeous harbour-side suburb located in the lower North Shore, home to many popular cafes and restaurants. One such cafe is a short walk from the main Military Road strip, distinguished only by a sign that states 'coffee,' known as ''.

Cafe is a small establishment on Grosvenor Street. The most noticeable thing could be the small crowd of people waiting for their takeaway coffee! Do not dismiss it so easily, because this is a hidden gem that serves delicious Instagram-worthy dishes!

The minimalist cafe is beautifully designed. It features contemporary decor and the all-white interior feels fresh, airy and clean. The numerous hanging plants add some greenery and vitality and overall, it's a very friendly and pleasant place for a weekend breakfast.

The cafe was packed with happy diners and it has a buzzing full-of-life atmosphere. The scent of the freshly brewed coffee saturated the space and it gave us warmth and hope in midst of a chilling winter morning. The staff were friendly and I loved their smiling faces. Their positive vibes were infectious.

My flat white was blissful and well made.

The mixed berry smoothie was refreshing and lovely. It was a great morning drink.

My Corn Fritters featured a tower of two fritters, delicious grilled halloumi, avocado, smoked salmon and a poached egg. The vibrant cherry tomato salad on the side consisted of snow pea sprouts, pickled radishes and edible flowers.

This dish looked like a work of art! It was gorgeously presented and the fresh ingredients sang in my mouth. The turmeric spiced fritters were fantastic with a super crispy exterior and they balanced well with smoked salmon, avocado and grilled halloumi. Oh, there was a perfect running poached egg too. It was a dish full of abundance.

The prices are a tad higher than average, but the food is presented beautifully with good portion sizes and great taste.

My guest ordered the Loaded Lamb Meatballs because it sounded interesting on a brunch menu. The presentation was inviting and hearty.

This plate was like a sampling plate of Mediterranean flavours and it brought harmony together. The meatballs were juicy and well seasoned; the pita bread provided the perfect vehicle to scoop up all the smoky eggplant paste at the bottom. The grilled halloumi, yoghurt, pine nuts, coriander and mint melded the flavours well. This was not a dish that you will typically find in breakfast cafes and my guest appreciated every bite.

There is more that I'd love to go back to try, including the Open Omelette mixed with wild mushrooms, honey roasted artichokes, chorizo, kale, goat cheese finished with light dusting of white truffle infused salt flake; and the slow-cooked Angus brisket marinated in Korean sauce served with creamy polenta, grilled heirloom carrots and chimichurri. Both dishes sound divine.

It was encouraging for me to meet and greet the owners and chefs who make so incredible. The name of the cafe is derived from the Christian value of the miraculous "5 loaves 2 fish'. Owners Andrew and Lyn are faithful Christians and have a strong background in hospitality.

Andrew has always had a deep passion for food since his earlier years. His Korean heritage has instilled a love of food and cooking in him. Many of his earliest memories of food involve his grandmother teaching him to cook family recipes. Cooking is in his blood; most of his family are either chefs, restaurant owners or experts at home cooking in their own right. When food is a way of life, it is inevitable that such a passion will radiate through the cafe's food offering.

Great venues are built on a passion for food and service and Cafe is definitely a cafe that you need to check out. Friendly smiles and great tasty food in a relaxed environment will always win anyone over.
