On Good Friday and Easter Sunday, many restaurants around Canberra will be hosting a Seafood Buffet, to respect the religious significance of the Easter period. There are also venues who have organised buffets on the Saturday in between, for those who want to celebrate all long weekend. It is a great opportunity to gather your closest friends and family and meet up at a local restaurant, to tuck into some of the freshest seafood direct from the South Coast or Sydney. For those who don't particularly like seafood, most of the buffets also offer meat or vegetarian options to ensure there will be something for everyone. Although Canberra may be far from the coast, we have some of the best suppliers of fresh seafood straight from the trawlers. With the region's best fishing waters just over a couple of hours from the city, we can have fresh seafood on our plates the day it was caught. If you would prefer to do your own seafood buffet at home, then check out the article Where is the Best Fresh Seafood in Canberra? for where to select the freshest seafood. Canberrans traditionally get to the seafood suppliers early on Good Friday to take their pick and get the best prawns. Have a chat to the friendly fishmongers behind the counter for the best advice on what to choose and how to cook it.

Happy Easter - however you celebrate it!
