4.48 Psychosis at Metanoia Theatre

The brainchild of British playwright, Sarah Kane, 4.48 Psychosis explores the many facets of mental illnesses including those of depression, self-harm, dependency, and isolation.

Uniquely structured, the play is comprised of 24 sections, none of which were written with any specific setting, stage directions or characters. Its language is similarly both abstract and naturalistic - which may offer a glimpse into the playwright's mindset at the time of writing (Kane took her own life shortly after completing the piece).

As Artistic Director of Bare Naked Theatre, and 20-year performing arts' veteran, Kendall-Jane Rundle has relocated to Melbourne from Montreal to launch the new company's inaugural season with 4.48 Psychosis.

To know just how intense a play 4.48 Psychosis is, one needs only to consider Rundle's main goal for Bare Naked Theatre; to push limits and confront audience expectations beyond that of mainstream theatre.

A special post-show discussion panel and Q&A will be held on Thursday, June 30th with director Kendall-Jane Rundle, Bridget Murray (public speaker on depression), and Cameron Solnordal writer/photographer and speaker for SANE Australia).

Sarah Kane's 4.48 Psychosis stars Alisha Eddy, Kendall-Jane Rundle, Jessica Stevens, and Jeff Wortman and is showing at Metanoia Theatre from 29 June - 2 July. Book tickets on the TryBooking website or call (03) 9387 3376. Metanoia Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
