On June 15, 1978, a humble group of just six bereaved families came together in the home of Lindsay and Margaret Harmer to share their grief of losing a child.
This first meeting went on to become The Compassionate Friends Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that supports parents, siblings and grandparents following the death of a child. Today, The Compassionate Friends Australia offers a national 24hr griefline, 47 support groups across the country and a drop-in centre in Victoria, NSW, QLD and WA.
2018 marks the 40th anniversary of The Compassionate Friends Australia and to celebrate this milestone, a gala dinner fundraiser is being held 40 years to the day!
On Friday 15 June 2018 in the elegant Rendezvous Hotel, this glamorous black-tie event will feature a 3-course dinner and 5-hour drink package, live auction, live music performances, photobooth and much more.
The event will commence at 6.30pm and guests will be served a fine dining 3-course meal, accompanied by beer, wine and soft drink til midnight.
The entertainment line-up includes guest speakers Stan Alves OAM, former AFL player and coach and Margaret Harmer OAM, the original founder of TCF in Australia.
There will be a live auction with special guest auctioneer Andrew Morello, winner of The Apprentice Australia, performances by Jennen Ngiau-Keng from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Jo Collyvas from Emotionworks, a photobooth and much more.
The evening will honour the achievements of The Compassionate Friends Victoria and the vital work they have done over the last 40 years to build hope in bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents.
100% of proceeds will go towards supporting bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents following the death of a child.
