Family togetherness is so important and that's why you need to gather your whole clan in one place and head off to the fifth annual 4074 Family Fun Day , 5 Counihan Road, Seventeen Mile Rocks on Sunday, 8 September, 2019 from 10.00am until 3.00pm.

Because the best things in life are FREE so is entry to the 4074 Family Fun Day.

You won't want anybody to miss this day and will need to bring the kids, neighbours, dog, and even the in-laws – you could really score some brownie points there. It just wouldn't be fair to leave anybody out of this day of family entertainment, markets, food, music and much, much more.

As usual, the organising committee, the 4074 Community and Beyond Facebook group , has reached out to the community seeking nominations for charitable organisations and the response has been magnificent. As a result, the community nominated, and the committee selected, SEQ K9 Rescue Inc. and Empowered Futures (with the funds raised going towards the purchase a specialised beach wheelchair) as the organisations to receive support from this year's 4074 Family Fun Day. This generosity, in effect, means everybody will have a great day as it's not often we have the opportunity to help out while we are having so much fun.

The stalls on offer will leave nobody disappointed. There will be loads of local businesses selling necessities such as homewares and toys. The Queensland Police have a display and the Brisbane City Council has organised a Pop-Up Library. NBN Co has prepared free WiFi to the event as well as being on hand to answer any questions you might have.

My favourite, SEQ K9 Rescue Inc., will also be on hand to help you find and adopt your new best friend. While on the subject of our dogs, judging for the inaugural 4074 Family Fun Day Dog Show will be taking place in three categories:
  • Best Senior,
  • Best Dressed, and
  • Owner/Dog Look-a-Like.

  • If you think you have a chance on the day click here and join in by submitting some photos of your best buddy for preliminary judging – you know your dog is the best so what do you have to lose?

In addition to these service and business stalls, there's also going to be some amazing craft exhibitions. The 4074 SewMasters Quilt Show will be displaying some gobsmacking quilts with the competition winners being announced during the event.
Best of all for the kids is the final judging for the 4074 Family Fun Day Colouring-In Competition's three age categories: 3 to 5 years, 6 to 9 years and 10 to 13 years.

What would be a Fun Day without food? To maintain everybody's strength you will have access to the sausage sizzle fundraiser run by Kiwanis as well as some food trucks to provide a selection of wood-fired pizza, gozleme, kebabs, Indian/Mexican fusion, nacho burgers, tacos, Dagwood dogs, hot chips, burgers, churros, soft-serve ice cream and yoghurt, popcorn, fairy floss, candy apples, slushies, candy straps, mini pancakes, cold drinks and coffee – nobody is going to go hungry or thirsty on the day.

And while on the subject of food, the eight finalists from the Just Poppy's Burger Eating Championship will be competing to become the top burger eater.

The list of goodies never ends; Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner will be dropping by and you can also watch Animal Planet's incredible Julia Baker, Snake Boss during her three reptile shows and, possibly, have your photos taken. Make sure you get there early for this one as it is attended by a few thousand visitors throughout the course of the day.

To keep things in the right vein there will also be a DJ rocking the joint with appropriate music. The music will help maintain focus as you compete for the various goods and services donated by local businesses at the humongous Cent Auction. Then you can also get involved in some (or all) of the stand-alone raffles such as, the Scratchie Tree, Bundle-o-Booze, Grocery Hamper and the most exciting prize of them all, the Ultimate Cinema Experience where the winner get his or her own private cinema hire for up to 45 people.

What kind of a Fun Day would it be without pampering to the kids? Well, certainly not the 4074 Family Fun Day. Not only will there be two jumping castles, cannibal pots ride, dual-lane water slide and a wide variety of kids (for 2-5yr olds) sports but they will be FREE.

Then, if that wasn't enough, there will also be a petting zoo, two face painters, train rides, a giant Jenga and Connect Four and a kids' messy play area.

The is a totally inclusive event where everybody who attends has the perfect opportunity to focus on having a day of good, old-fashioned, family fun where lots of fun is available without the need to spend lots of money.

Believe it or not, this entire event is organised and run by volunteers and funded by local business sponsorships and Brisbane City Council.
