Scare Yourself Silly at the Cinema this Halloween
If you are looking for a scary movie experience this Halloween then you have four fabulous options on the Gold Coast. From the terrifying to the surreal and the spooky to the scary.

There are two awesome options for the adults and a couple of mild scary treats for the kids.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

A newly engaged couple have a breakdown in an isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter to get help.

Absolutely one of my favourite films of all time - the best songs ever, the most amazing cast and just a totally bonkers wonderful ride from start to finish, which I have possibly watched over 100 times in my lifetime. I cannot wait to watch on the big screen for the first time.

Paranormal Activity 4

Rating CTC
Release Date Thursday, 18 October 2012
Length 1hrs 35min
Main Cast Katie Featherston, Brady Allen
Movie Director Henry Joost
Distributor Paramount

The directors of Catfish and Paranormal Activity 3 return with the fourth instalment to the horror found-footage franchise.

I have seen Paranormal Activity and quite honestly it scared the living daylights out of me. Not because the first one was that scary, although it is in parts, but because I was expecting the absolute worst and therefore the whole experience was spent behind a cushion in utter fear. Was fun though! Watch the 4th installment if you dare.

Rating PG (Scary scenes and infrequent mild coarse language)
Release DateThursday, 25 October 2012
Length 1hrs 27min
Main Cast Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell
Movie Director Tim Burton
Distributor Disney

From creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life--with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.

Tim Burton is one of my favourite directors - I love the dark and edgy nature to his movies, and just how visually stunning they always are.

Hotel Transylvania

Rating PG (Mild crude humour and horror theme)
Release Date Thursday, 20 September 2012
Length 1hrs 31min
Main Cast Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Selena Gomez ,Steve Buscemi, CeeLo Green, David Spade, Molly Shannon and Fran Drescher
Movie Director Genndy Tartakovsky
Distributor Sony Pictures

At Dracula's (voiced by Adam Sandler) five-star resort, Hotel Transylvania, monsters and their families, including Frankenstein (voiced by Kevin James) and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, and a family of werewolves, can live it up without worrying about frightening or offending anyone in the human world. Dracula, an overprotective dad, has a teenage daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). He makes up stories about terrible dangers in order to keep her from wanting to leave the hotel. But his world may come crashing down when an ordinary guy, who just happens to walk into the hotel, falls for Mavis.

A great cast and looks like loads of fun. Sometimes films aimed at kids are brilliant for us adults too - and this looks like it just may be perfect for both.
