4 Pines at the Farm is a new pub which opened in November 2021, owned by
4 Pine Brewing Co and
located at the
Hunter Valley Resort in Pokolbin. You don't need to be staying at the accommodation to visit this pub - just drive in and enjoy the country views from the outside tables. There are 12 of their own brewery beers on tap, as well as menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On one of the walls, there is a description of how 4 Pines began - it was
"born over a decade ago from a casual conversation between father and son, post surf, who simply wanted an exceptional beer and options were limited".
When you visit the Hunter Valley, sometimes it can be hard to find a casual, family-friendly venue that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. We found that 4 Pines was handy in this way, when we were staying at
Beltana Villas nearby. If you don't want to eat in, you can also grab a takeaway and take it back to your accommodation. It provides ease and convenience, on a trip away to the Hunter Valley.

My family and I visited this venue a few times on a recent stay in the Hunter Valley. The first time we went there, we stopped in for a drink while we were waiting to check in to our accommodation. The music was pumping quite loud, which distracted from the serene environment, but it was clear that it was a popular spot for locals and families to have a drink and enjoy the view. On our visit, there were new staff getting trained on how to pour a beer, so there were some delays, but it was delivered with a smile.
The next day, we came back for
breakfast and the music was more serene, and we ordered our meals from the counter and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and a delicious coffee. It was a good way to start the day, before a big day exploring the
Hunter Valley Gardens.

A filling breakfast, before a day in the Hunter Valley
A couple of nights later, our family visited again for a casual dinner and sat outside, as the sun set and the lights came on. We learnt that there were 2 venues for dinner - if you want to sit outside and order from the bar, then you grab the
Taproom menu - which is the same as the tasty lunch menu. If you wish to sit at the inside dining space with table service (reservations required), then it is the
Bistro menu, and each diner needs to spend at least $35 per person.
The casual, outdoor tables were perfect for us and we enjoyed the warmth of the outdoor heaters. We placed our order at the bar for two
Chicken Burgers and a Kids Cheeseburger and after some delay after a power cut, our buzzer sounded and we picked up our meals. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they were moist, full of flavour and absolutely delicious! They were devoured in complete silence, which says it all.

A casual dinner venue, with tasty burgers!
This venue also has a
wine tasting area when you first walk in the door, if you would like to try some local wines on your visit. During the day there is a large lounge area in front of the wine bar, so you can enjoy a glass of wine inside and look at the view.
4 Pines Brewing Co also have a pub at
Charlestown in Newcastle, as well as other
locations around Australia. If you love to visit new pubs, then give 4 Pines at the Farm a visit. We found it to be an interesting venue - it may have had some service issues (although they are newly opened and post-COVID), but we found all the staff to be friendly, the food delicious and the location was casual and relaxed. Why don't you give it a try this weekend?
