Spring has sprung and summer is not far away. The temperature is already rising, and dormant beaches are becoming alive with a few more visitors.

Finding fun water places for kids can be a challenge, especially if your kids are small. There is also the subject of finance. While we would all love to treat out kids to the greatest and latest, our budgets do not always allow it.

Below is a list of free water places you can take the kids that will keep them entertained and make you the coolest parent of the year.

1. Hillarys Boat Harbour

Hillary Boat Harbour
Jetty and Floating Jetting in Hillary Boat Harbor which makes loads of fun!

Hillary's Boat Harbour hosts one of the best man made beaches and swim areas in Perth. There is a shallow area for kids to splash around in and the jetty will attract the more competent swimmer who likes to jump off into the water. There is also a playground and toilets.

Kids love the square floating jetty; they can swim to it and jump off. Slides are mounted on this jetty during the hotter times of the season.

The downside to Hillary's Boat Harbour is that there are little jelly fish called stingers. They normally surface when it is very hot and like to float near the jetty area. If someone is stung it is best to put ice or pour water over the sting area. Life guards are on site and should be able to assist with this.

2. Rockingham Beach

Rockingham Beach
Rockingham beach offers nice shallow waters which can be enjoyed by kids of all ages.

This is a perfect little haven for kids of all ages. The water is shallow enough for kids to paddle in. With a playground nearby, kids can keep themselves entertained for a while.

Plus, with barbecues for you to use, you can pack a picnic lunch and spend the whole day swimming and enjoying a great summer day. You may even be graced with a few pelican sightings.

3. Whiteman Park Mini Water Playground

After a little dip in the paddling pools you can go for a stroll through the Children's Forest! (photo courtesy of Whiteman Park)

The Mini Water Playground offers kids a range of water activities from a wading pool to water spouts.

Whiteman Park is a huge reserve which also hosts a number of fun things for the whole family to do from the water playground to the children's forest. So make sure you stop in at the information center for a map.

Plus, with a range of picnic and barbecue areas, you can pack a lunch and experience dinner in the wild. Now that is something that Bear Grylls never did.

4. Ellenbrook Rainbow Water Park

Ellenbrook Rainbow Waters
Ellenbrook Rainbow Waters have little water spouts and waddling pools to keep kids entertain for hours.

This is a great place to go if the budget is a bit tight. Ellenbrook Rainbow Water Park hosts a range of water activities to keep all the family entertained from water hoses to little sprinkles. And like all kids, there is nothing better than running through sprays of cool water.

With Picnic table and barbecues available, you can take a little picnic hamper to feed the little tummies after a good play in the water.

Great article! Other great places to go to that are totally free are the water playground at Forrest Place, just in front of the GPO and Hyde Park water playground.

Has that tree door been hollowed out with something behind it, or is it just frontal window dressing? It looks pretty cool either way.

Here;s one you missed! Lake Leschenaultia is a beautiful kid safe lake with sand, grass & picnic areas, canoes, camp ground & even a jetty for them to jump off. A wonderful fun filled day out or even camp out!!
