If you love rice and noodles or are craving for carbs, then 375 Congee and Noodle House has something for you. Located along Victoria Avenue in Chatswood, this humble shop is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 9am to 10pm daily.


I was there on a late morning just in time to try their simple breakfast menu which surprisingly has some western-ish breakfast options such as ham, sausage, bacon and macaroni.

We tried their $7 congee breakfast set which included a choice of congee (from minced beef, thousand egg & pork, chicken or san pan) and one side dish (rice roll, chow mien or Chinese doughnut).


We ordered two sets of San Pan Congee with rice roll and chow mien. Our congee was served shortly after our order. It was very smooth and flavourful. There was a mixture of pork slices, fried peanuts, salted eggs, slices of cuttle-fish, ginger and sprinkle of chopped spring onion. The San Pan Congee is a traditional rice-based porridge which is a popular Cantonese snack in Guangzhou. It was said to be served to scholars and tourists on the boats cruising the river.

Having a bowl of warm congee for breakfast is so satisfying especially on a cold morning. It is such a great comfort food for winter.


Just before we finished the congee, our side orders arrived. The chow mien is fried with bean sprouts and sprinkled with lots of sesame seed. The flavour was there but it was a little too dry for my liking. By now, I was already quite filled up.


My partner had the rice rolls which was soft and silky-smooth. The sauce complimented the rice rolls (which was otherwise rather plain) really well.

We thought the $7 breakfast set was really reasonable based on the serving portions and we would definitely be back to try out their lunch menu next time.
