The only thing better than going to a weekend market is going to three markets in one. If you love nothing more than perusing stall upon stall of vintage wares, crafts and antiques then the 3 in 1 Market @ Claremont Showgrounds are not to be missed in 2013.
The 3 in 1 Market consists of the Polka Dot Vintage Market, Handmade Crafts and Antiques & Collectables, with over 300 market stalls.
I went a couple of times last year and absolutely loved it. As a lover of vintage clothing and retro homewares, it was the Polka Dot Vintage Market that initially attracted me, but once I was in I was amazed by the range available in all three sections of the market and absolutely had to go again.
Entry is $6 which also gets you a ticket into the raffle for the $2000 door prize.
The next 3 in 1 Market is on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April, but if you miss that one, there are two other opportunities to get there in 2013: August and November.
In the Antiques & Collectables section, most stall holders are prepared to negotiate on price so you can pick yourself up some fine vintage homewares and bric-a-brac for an absolute steal.
The Handmade Craft section contains everything from quilting and needlework, bead work and jewellery to gourmet homemade foods. On my last visit I discovered Armanda's Cuisine; a delicious variety of locally made chutneys, jams and sauces inspired by the maker's African heritage. My favourite is the extra spicy Gindungo made from green chillies.
But if you're a vintage lover like me, you can just about spend the entire afternoon in the Polka Dot Vintage Market marvelling at the sheer array of vintage clothing available and trying on absolutely everything.
