If you can't get south for this year's Taste Great Southern food and wine festival, there's an opportunity to have it come to you.

Celebrity chef, Stuart Laws, one of the state's best cooks, will be presiding over a long table dinner at the Raffles Hotel in Applecross on Thursday March 18. Centrepiece of the dinner will be the produce of The Great Southern region of Western Australia which will be celebrated during food and wine festival Taste Great Southern from March 18 to 28.

Each dish will be matched to wines from Mt Barker wine producer 3drops. The decadent five-course, long table dinner, will be hosted by Laws (from Channel 9's Our State on a Plate) and 3drops wine producer Joanne Bradbury.

Guests will taste an array of 3drops wines including some carefully selected aged Riesling's and Pinot Noir matched with some of the finest produce from the Great Southern and learn first-hand some of the secrets this region has to offer.

Menu for the evening will be: Fresh baked baguette, 3drops olive oil matched with 3drops Blanc De Noir 2017; crudo of Great Southern nannaguy, grapefruit, radish matched with 3drops Reisling 2020; wood grilled heirloom carrots, whipped goats curd, pine nut and great southern honey salsa matched with 3drops Nebbiolo Rose 2019; beetroot ricotta agnolotti, burnt butter, horseradish gremolata matched with 3drops Chardonnay 2019; Wagin duck, touchwood mushrooms, duck croquette, parsnip puree, salsa verde matched with 3drops Pinot Noir 2019; and chocolate torte, fresh Albany berries, Dellendale double cream matched with 3drops Cabernet Franc 2018.

Laws says the Great Southern region is one Western Australia's finest growing regions. He says what makes it so special is the array of produce grown and produced, including everything from sensational seafood, and amazing beef and lamb, to wonderful vegetables.

According to Laws, the growers are extremely passionate about what they produce and a strive to have the best in the state and all of Australia. He has designed the menu to represent the region's diversity of produce and to match the stunning wines produced by 3drops winery.

Wine producer Bradbury says the wines to be served with dinner, illustrate the diversity of grape varieties that can be grown in the cool of the Great Southern. From Riesling to Nebbiolo, Chardonnay to Pinot Noir, each 3drops wine has an elegance and finesse that allows them to beautifully complement the produce selected by Chef Stuart Laws, she says.

Laws and Bradbury have deliberately chosen some classic food matches; Riesling with seafood, Pinot Noir with duck, and Cabernet with chocolate, and anticipate that both the food and wine will pair beautifully together.

Tickets to the meal include a five-course dinner, with matching 3drops wines, for $129 are available from https://www.tastegreatsouthern.com.au/3dropslongtabledinne
