Four hangry people walked into a bar ...
It was past 4pm on a Tuesday and none of us had had lunch. We'd spent the day working and fielding threats from our stomachs, so when we eventually went to get some food, we were past the point of starvation. A friend John suggested a place he knew which was not too far from us, called 3 Dee and without further prodding or investigation, I put the location on Google Maps and drove us there. He could have suggested boiled eggs and I bet we would have been compliant - that's how hungry we were.

When we got to 3 Dee Restaurant in Kilimani, I thought we were lost - from outside the gate, it looks like a block of apartments and not the place you go when you're famished. Nonetheless, we parked the car and on the side of one of the apartment blocks, is an unassuming, under-cover restaurant.

We were quickly sat and gave our food orders - I ordered the half mixed platter which upon hindsight, I would do over and over again despite the humongous portion size. The platter is a mix of sautéed potatoes (which, if you love potatoes, there's nothing like a Kenyan potato), fish fingers, wings, chips and beef skewers. I know - the perfect combination for when you're feeling like you want to eat everything.

Their food was so delicious, it ended up being our go-to meal for the next two days straight.

Ugali and fish
Surprisingly, it doesn't take a long time to prepare the meals. Given the amount of meat and chicken in our dishes, we were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived in about half an hour.

This is somewhere I will definitely visit again and again. Check it out and let me know what you think!
