If you haven't heard of it by now, you'll be in for a surprise. Tough Mudder is an intense 18-20km obstacle course with well over 20 obstacles scattered throughout, and was designed by the British Special Forces. It first debuted in the United States in 2010, and has gradually spread across the globe to areas like Canada, South Africa, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.
[ADVERT]It is emphasised that Tough Mudder is not a typical race, but a challenge. This punishing obstacle course will challenge you physically and psychologically, as you will experience some extreme conditions and face your biggest fears. Teamwork is important here, and participants will learn the significance of working together and camaraderie as they progress through this event.
If you feel unprepared, they have a program called Boot Camp which provides training information for you to prepare for the event with appropriate exercises.
Spartan Race is a fittingly named race where only the toughest survive. They have held over 50 events across the world in America, Canada, Europe and Australia. Unlike the other races, there are four different race distances to choose from: Spartan Sprint (7km), Super Spartan (10km), Spartan Beast (20km), and the most gruelling of all, the Ultra Beast (40km).
The creators of this race want the competitors to experience what it is like back when life wasn't so easy. When we had to survive on our instincts and skills. When physical and mental toughness meant life or death. As described on the Spartan Race website, "Our events are all about challenging today's perception of normal."
Spartan Race also has an informative training section with training tips, exercises, and nutritional information to kick start your journey into one of the toughest races ever.
The race will take place in all sorts of challenging terrain, and will push you to your limit. When you manage to complete it, you'll get rewarded with a refreshing beer, a t-shirt, and a unique Spartan Race finisher medal.
If you think you're worthy of being called a Spartan, you can sign up right here.

The Warrior Dash is slightly different from the other races. As its name implies, it's a dash, and is the shortest race at only 5km. Warrior Dash holds their races in Canada, America, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. Although the Victoria event is already over, there are still the other states to look forward to throughout the year. Make no mistake though, the obstacles will more than make up for the lack of distance and will test the mettle of all participants.
While there are separate age divisions for the event, it is not fixed. Participants will be allowed to start earlier or later in any division of their choosing.
Warrior Dash also provides some simple training programs to start with, and progresses to more advanced levels in order to help future participants get prepared for this event.
Upon completion of the event, finishers will receive a Warrior beer stein, custom finisher medal, a t-shirt, and a fuzzy viking style Warrior helmet.
If the other races sound too tough and too long for now, be adventurous and give this one a shot here.
There's no reason to say you're bored now. With these three crazy and challenging races available to you, one question remains.
