Overlooking our tiny yet beautiful city of Adelaide is a rooftop bar that has found residence atop Jamie Oliver's kitchen, which is on the corner of King William Street and North Terrace.
There are many aspects of 2KW bar and restaurant that make it stand out and continue to be one of the most attractive spots for going out for drinks and hangs with friends and family - take note of the breathtaking views, coupled with the fresh breeze of air, and the delicious cocktails and nibbles that are served in the bar and restaurant.
Recently, 2KW released their summer edition of cocktails and I was fortunate enough to have attended the media launch with a group of other notable social media bloggers in the industry. The event was held in the Loggia Bar, where we were treated to a social experience of soaking in the hospitality of the staff, coupled with delicious nibbles and an enticing collection of summery cocktails.
Each cocktail on the menu has a name that relates to South Australian themes and icons and also replicates the vibe of 2KW.
First up, we had the KI Buzz with Gin, lemon, and Kangaroo Island Lingurian Honey. A lover of all things Gin, this drink is a refresher that provides the drinker with a subtle buzz under the scorching sun. There is a tangy taste from the lemon, along with the sweetness from the honey that makes this drink taste like summer in its truest form.
Next up, we had the Two Lifts with Aperol, Chartreuse, and Vermouth. Named after the infamous trip to the bar from the ground level, this drink is best enjoyed by those who have a naughty streak hidden underneath a seemingly naive appearance. The flavours are strong and full of zestful energy that is bound to leave you feeling light-headed in a delightful manner.
Then came the classics - the Montenegro Sour with creme de cacao was spruced up with a local favourite: chocolate bitters from Haighs. If you love chocolate and strong drinks, this drink is for you. The Montenegro Sour combines the strong essence from the liqueur with the frothiness on top, which has been bedded with chocolate shavings. A drink more suited to enjoy at sunset, this drink will help you wind down and bask in the beauty of the horizon as you enjoy this drink in one of the comfortable, intimate booths of the bar outside.
Saving the best for last, we had the Pickled Pineapple Whiskey Smash with Connemara, pickled pineapple, and lemon. A modern twist on a classic, this drink is not for the faint-hearted. The strong flavours from the whiskey, coupled with the fresh and fruity flavours of pineapple and lemon, this drink will make you feel like you're sitting by the beach side and inhaling the sweet fragrance of the ocean.
2KW has always been known for their classy and delectable cocktails and with the launch of their summer menu, it only seems that the mixologists are stepping up their game and delivering customers with quality presentation and quality tasting drinks to ring in Australia's beloved sun-soaked season. In addition to this, the bar is also hoping to become a Sunday hotspot for local bands and artists to showcase their musical talents and promote a casual and care-free ambience to customers on relaxing Sunday afternoons at the rooftop bar. With a blend of locally sourced produce along with some of the best spirits and liqueurs out there, you can be assured that you'll be in for a good time at 2KW.
