New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Canoe, kayak or SUP to raise money for Autism
The Burley Griffin Canoe Club are hosting their 24 hour Paddle Challenge at Molonglo Reach in Campbell. If you are handy on a canoe, kayak or stand up paddle (SUP), why not gather a team together and enter as a social, school, competitive or corporate team.
Participants will paddle for 24 hours around a loop course at Molonglo Reach between 10am on Saturday 4th December until 10am the next morning to raise money for autism per lap. Paddlers will be given glow sticks to see each other at night and the Fuzz Buzz coffee van will be on site to give you sustenance before or after your leg of the challenge.
If you don't know enough people to join a team, The Burley Griffin Canoe Club will help you find a team to join. Anyone can enter this challenge from novices to athletes, or you can enter the challenge as an individual.
If you are unsure if your social team will last the whole 24 hours, there is no pressure to stay, just come and go as you please and rack up as many laps as you can for a good cause.
The 24hr Challenge is to raise much need funds for Autism Australia. Participants raise money by getting sponsorship before the race, however anyone can sponsor a paddler to help raise funds for this worthy charity.
Have fun, meet new people and help a worthy cause. Why not dress up in the fancy dress theme of "Creatures of the Night" and "Superheros" for teams and individuals. With people wearing fancy dress on the water at Molonglo Reach, it is sure to attract some local attention as well as possibly winning you a prize!
See the 24hr Challenge website for all the information.
