For something different to McDonalds, here's a list of some restaurants and take-away stores open 24 hours.

Stalactites

In the mood for some Greek flavours to quiet your growling stomach? Finalist "Best Greek Restaurant" in 2010, Stalactites is where you ought to be then. Open 24 hours every day, the menu has a little something for everyone, with so many dishes to choose from; try some home-made dips, giros, souvlakis (including vegetarian), or the traditional moussaka (my favourite), a layered dish of eggplant, minced beef and potato.

Where: 177 - 183 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
Cost: $12.50 - $29.00
Allergen list available.
Pie Face

This franchise has become a hit with many stores open 24 hours all over Melbourne. It's the perfect little snack, when you need something small and you've only got a handful of change. Choose from the various pies, sausage rolls, pastries, muffins and croissants and coffee to help you recover from the one-to-many tequila shots.

Where: All over Melbourne. Click here for locations.
Cost: Pies from $3.75 – $6.95; coffee $3.00 small and $3.80 large.
Pepperoni's

For pizza lovers, you'll be happy to know that [LINK=http://www.pepperonis.com.au/
]Pepperoni's[/LINK] has restaurants open 24 hours every day. Dine in or order delivery, Pepperoni's has all the pizza flavours you can think of (22 toppings!), including gourmet toppings such as Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Deluxe and Smoked Ham. Other mains include pastas, schnitzels, burgers and salads. Desserts are also available.

Where: 7A Elizabeth St, Melbourne; and 727 Burke Rd, Camberwell.
Cost: $9.00 - $21.00
Gluten-free bases available ($3.00 extra).
Pancake Parlour

For some quality food and a place to sit down and relax in the early hours of the morning, I don't think anything quite beats the Pancake Parlour . The service is always friendly and the pancakes always satisfyingly delicious. Choose from the savoury flavours of the beefy Tabriz World Famous pancake, or the tantalising Cheese & Potato pancake, to something sweet like the tangy Raspberry and Rhubarb Pancake, or the sizzling Hot Buttered Walnuts with cinnamon.

Just remember not all Pancake Parlour restaurants are open 24 hours. Currently, the Doncaster restaurant and the recently opened, Pancake Parlour on Warrigul Rd, are the only ones open 24 hours every day.

Where: 550 Doncaster Rd, Doncaster (off the Eastern Freeway) and 682-690 Warrigul Rd, Malvern East (off Monash Freeway).
Cost: $9.90 - $29.90
Allergen list available.

Spanish Doughnuts

For those with a sweet tooth after a late night, Spanish Doughnuts is open 24/7 at Flinders Street Station. Choose from Bombon churros at $3.90 each or go with the original churros doughnuts with your choice of white, milk or dark dipping sauce for $6.50 for 3pk. Savoury options are also available with options of cream cheese, sundried tomatoes, peanut butter or vegemite-filled savoury churros. If you're a meatlover, try the churrific waffle – a Spanish sausage covered in melted cheese and encrusted with a waffle coat. But my personal preference is the breakfast deal of a hot drink and croissant for $5.95.

**
Where**: Shop 2 at Flinders Street Station (on St Kilda Rd)
Cost: $3.90 - $9.00
Take-away only.

Emrem Kebabs (also known as Hallam Kebabs)

Emrem Kebabs also gets an honourable mention, as you'll find this fluorescently-lit caravan, always popular with their well-renowned tasty kebabs, conveniently open till 3am every day. And their crispy, chicken-salted chips really hit the spot. This store is also halal certified.

Where: 34 Hallam Rd, Hallam.
Cost: $6.00 - 13.50
