The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden is celebrating their 20th year, and you're invited. It's going to be a jam-packed weekend of activities at The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria , Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne, over the weekend of 26-27 October 2024 from 10am to 4pm. It's a free event and there are no bookings required. Performances planned are as follows, so you don't miss out here's the schedule.

  • 10am-4pm - Session Time
  • 10.30am; 12.30pm and 2.30pm - Performances
  • 11am On Saturday Only - Birthday Cake Celebration

  • Enjoy interactive live performances of 'Bees' by Polyglot Theatre . Follow the link to find out more. This interactive experience will immerse you in the sounds, shapes and scents of the bee world. From their familiar buzz to their honeycomb houses, you'll find a range of ways to engage and participate in this ritual, non-verbal communication of bees and their secret world.

Appearances by Born in a Taxi (a physical theatre group) will run throughout the day. You might encounter the giant Praying Mantis or her friend the Ladybird, popping in to roam the garden, by this ensemble. Plus there are a lot of activities and more that'll have you climbing, jumping, crouching, crawling and revelling in a garden specifically designed for nature-based play.

With a refreshed storytelling technique, find beautiful plant labels with illustrations by young designers that reveal wonderful stories about the plants and the animals who visit them. You can also collect Seek and Find circles and head off in search of shapes and colours and hidden animals. Afterwards, why not explore the rest of Melbourne Gardens with the brand-new episode of the audio series Sonica Botanica, created by kids in collaboration with artist Patrick Cronin. You'll experience the Gardens as kids do, and be reminded that every garden is a kid’s garden. For all other events happening at either the Melbourne or Cranbourne Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, see here . The Facebook event page also lists upcoming events like 'The Art of Botanical Illustration'; 'Live Music Events'; and more.
