Since the International Olympic Committee announced that Brisbane, Australia, would host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, planning has been underway to determine the major stadium locations across the City where the competitions will be played out.
On Tuesday, 24 March 2025, after some speculation,
Queensland Government the announced the Brisbane 2032 Master plan and revealed what many sports fans and residents were waiting to find out. Where would the major Olympic events be held and housed as part of the new infrastructure plan?
So big was the news that Premier outlined the Olympic Stadiums plan in a special media broadcast announcement. And here are the major spaces and places that will transform Brisbane to welcome the 2032 Brisbane Olympic competitions.
Main Stadium at Victoria Park
A new 63,000-seat stadium will be built in Victoria Park in Herston at a cost of $3.4 billion. The custom-built stadium will be the major venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and track and field events. After the games are over, the stadium will be home to major cricket and AFL games.
RNA Showgrounds
The main Olympic Athletes Village will be housed at the
RNA Showgrounds at Bowen Hills. After the games, it will be converted to permanent housing.
A new National Aquatic Centre
The historic 1950s built
Centenary Pool in Gregory Terrace is set to be transformed into a new National Aquatic Centre where the swimming, water polo, artistic swimming and diving events will be held. The facility will feature a new main and secondary stadium, featuring two large indoor pools that would act as a national base to host the four peak aquatic sports.
The new $650 million aquatic centre will expand to a capacity of more than 25 -00 during the Games by installing temporary seating.
Upgrade to the Queensland Tennis Centre
The Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson will receive a new permanent 3000 seat show courts and 12 additional match courts.
Redland Whitewater Centre
The canoe slalom events will host stars like Noeme Fox competing in the C1 (canoe) and K1 (kayak) events at the new Redland Whitewater Centre. The proposed Redland Whitewater Centre will be located on approximately 18 per cent of the 26-hectare core parkland within the Birkdale Community Precinct,
A Media Centre will be located at the South Bank Convention Centre.
Regional Centres of the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville, Rockhampton and Maryborough will also be used for a range of other sports.
The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held from 23 July to 8 August 2032.
