Constructed in the 1900s by the Geelong and Melbourne Railway company, the historic Cunningham Pier in Geelong seems the perfect scenic setting for this year's Craft Fair. A great alternative to the traditional events room, with its uninterrupted floor to ceiling breathtaking bay views and jutting 250 metres out over the water, you will feel like you're floating on water.

The fair promises to be a mecca for crafters and DIY enthusiasts. There will be quilting, haberdashery, sewing, knitting, D.I.Y, dress making, jewellery, kids workshops, gift ideas, latest trends, special guest speakers, and so much more. How does 80 stores under the one roof grab you? What also sets this fair apart is that the organisers hold no prejudice towards the stall holders. In other words they are not locked in to any particular supplier or group, and what this means for the consumer is that you get a real snapshot of the craft industry.

There are also many ways you could be involved. Go to the Craft Fair Webpage to find out how. There are application forms if you want to join as a Club, Group or Guild, or if you want to Exhibit. They're also looking for Volunteers to help set up and pack up stands and exhibits and be show ambassadors on the day to help people with directions and show information. If you're looking to extend your experience in running and hosting events, here's the perfect opportunity.

Thanks to technology and the sharing around of the Craft Fair page, Brother Sewing Machines have jumped on board and donated an NX 200 QE sewing machine. This will be offered up as one of many door prizes and all you will need to do to be in the running is to fill in an entry form upon entry to the fair. For more information on the sewing machine, CLICK HERE.

Passionate about giving back to the community, half of the entry fees from the fair will be donated to River's Gift. An organisation that has evolved into a global movement with thousands of supporters across the world and a formation of a dedicated research partnership. Established in November 2011 by two parents searching for answers surrounding the death of their 4 month old son River Jak Adam, it is the largest source of non-government funding for SIDS research in Australia. Known in the past as 'cot death', it is the unexplained death of an infant and is not predicted by medical history. Although there has been a reduction in SIDS cases, over 80 babies are still losing their lives every year in Australia. There are many ways to help the crusade to stamp out SIDS. You can make a direct donation, Run for River, purchase something from the River retail section or even organise your own fundraising event.

There will be a mini bus shuttle running every 30 minutes from the Geelong station, a ride to the pier costing you a gold coin donation with profits being donated to Rivers Gift. If you're driving, getting to Cunningham's Pier is easy, with plenty of parking at a reasonable rate.

Follow the Princess Highway until you reach Geelong. Continue following the Ring Road (avoid the Geelong exit) and turn off at the Ballarat Road exit. Turn left and continue following the road for approximately 3 kms and travel over the Telegraph bridge, a quick turn to the left (after the bridge); continue following the road to the water. Turn right at the roundabout and continue along Western Beach Foreshore Road until you see Cunningham Pier (situated 50 metres out on a Pier).
