It's the weekend that all avid gardeners look forward to with growing anticipation. The annual ABC Gardening Expo. at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.



The event's popularity is increasing, as more and more people are jumping on the 'sustainable vegetable growing' bandwagon and learning how to grow their own produce. Contrary to what some might believe, there is no real talent required to grow your own, and the delight you'll experience when harvesting your first crop of cherry tomatoes, or zucchinis is hard to match.

The expo features the expert personalities on ABC TV's Gardening Australia. Stephen Ryan, Angus Stewart and Tino Carnevale. They're the bright sparks on all things horticultural, including organic growing, landscape gardening, plant breeding, grafting - in fact everything you ever wanted to know about how to have the perfect garden.

There are also cooking demonstrations that show how best to enjoy the fruits of your labour, and create fantastic family meals from the garden.



And no expo would be complete without a selection of activities for the kids - including the appearance of some popular kids ABC characters. There will be jumbo size outdoor games for the whole family - like giant chess.


This year also features Backyard Creatures, with loads of information on how to handle the wildlife that inhabits your garden. Learn how the productive ones, like bees and chickens can add to your family's sustainable lifestyle - and find out how to discourage the pests you don't want.

If you're interested in purchasing some more plants for your garden that you may not be able to find anywhere else, you'll be delighted with Nursery Walk, with a huge selection of wholesale and retail nurseries all under one roof. When you've made your selections, there will be a plant pick-up point, where your items will be delivered to your car for free.


Finding your way around at such a large venue might be a little difficult, so to ensure you get to see everything you want, this floor plan might help.
