all experiences are life-journeys that help us to grow - immerse, enjoy, and learn

A helping hand is just a cup of coffee away
Most of us dream of changing the world and making it a better place to live in. But very few actually go and do something about it. The people behind 2Pocket Fairtrade Espresso Bar and Store are among those few. And they're doing it one cup of coffee, one chocolate bar, one beauty product (among other things) at a time.

The whole concept of 2Pocket is to address poverty alleviation through fair trade - building partnerships with communities who supply the products to make sure that they are paid fairly - an idea that was born out of its founders spending a year volunteering in a developing country. The term 2Pocket itself refers to money coming in to businesses and communities and money going out is symbolic of a sustainable economic cycle in these businesses and communities.

The products on sale in the store include fairtrade chocolates and coffee, handmade paper, organic beauty and food products, almost all of which come from developing countries from Africa and Asia. There are also CDs of music from these regions, and they carry a line of sneakers made out of recycled materials called FYE or For Your Earth that just look so cool.

And it's not just the altruistic spirit of this store that makes you feel good the moment you walk in - the ambience has a cozy, laidback vibe that invites you to have a cup of coffee (or a pot of tea) and just hang out for a while. The staff is friendly and helpful, and happy to answer any inquiries you may have about their products.

Is this innovation the future of cafes? Whether or not it is, the great idea that is 2Pocket is definitely worth checking out.
