Great coffee, raw, vegan and more at this quirky café
2 Greenfingers café is unlike any other eatery that I have ever set foot in. With its shabby chic interior, small range of plants for sale, midweek yoga sessions and totally mismatched array of furniture, it sure looks and feels like a one of a kind.
But that's not all that sets 2 Greenfingers apart – in addition to the standard café fare of cakes and muffins, they sell a range of wholesome and raw foods and some of the best coffee I've had in Perth. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings the café becomes a yoga studio for those who need a bit of midweek zen.
After browsing the eye-popping array of colourful salads, including the 'Buddha Bowl' – a traditionally vegan dish consisting of vegetables, chickpeas, quinoa and dressing, I spotted the baked goods sitting atop the display cabinet.
As tempted as I was to inject some of this Buddha Bowl goodness into my body, I had my little girl with me and I'm fairly sure I know where the chickpeas would end up (hint – closer to the floor than her mouth…) so I opted for the banana and passionfruit bread as I'm a sucker for this sweet treat.
They don't have high chairs for the little ones, but there is plenty of room to park up your pram and they do have a box of kids' toys and some books for entertainment. There's no kids menu, but you can bet their cakes, slices, wraps or toasties will be a big hit for little tummies.
My banana and passionfruit bread and coffee arrived quickly. The coffee was perfect – creamy and just hot enough. The banana bread was truly delicious – moist, perfectly toasted and with the right amount of sweetness. I thought the passionfruit might be overpowering, but the partnering with the banana was spot on.
It didn't take long before the banana bread was gone and my little girl was running out the door. In another plus for parents, 2 Greenfingers is located opposite Webber Reserve, a sporting complex that houses a small playground and a nature playground, which my daughter had obviously spotted on the way in.
The nature playground is far from average – it is built around natural elements including logs, sticks, rocks and sand, and has rope play included. There are log steps to climb and stick structures to weave in and out of. The playground is built on a slope, adding an extra level of trickiness for the kids. It's quite a challenging playground, so make sure the kids are wearing appropriate footwear.
Ordered a Smoothie there as was intrigued with new place in Willagee. It was delicious however was super over priced. $9.50 for a very small cup. Not even in normal dome lid take away cup. This was a child size container. :(( won’t be going back as it was too expensive!
