The rules are as follow: only items that are regularly priced for $2 or under are included, no sale items, no special prices on some special days – these are the standard prices. Play along and comment below what items you've bought in the city for $2.

1. Tokui Sushi – every sushi is $2

This is the cheapest sushi you will find in the CBD (unlike most places that charge closer to $2.5 for a roll). There is a wide selection of rolls from California, Prawn, Salmon and also vegetarian options.

The sushi is fresh, big and yummy, what more can you ask for? Expect long queues during lunch time so it's better to go before the rush hour madness begins.

Where? 260 Lonsdale St (opposite Big W)

2. Bread and Butter – Bakery/Patisserie

Bread and Butter is a Bakery/Patisserie similar to TopBread but with greater variety of tasty bread and buns for $2 and under.
With your $2 coin you'll be able to enjoy the Almond Braid, Custard Corn, Mexican Coffee and lots of colourful donuts.

Where? 240 Swanston Street

3. Internet

For those of us who don't have a Smartphone and need to go online, 10 minutes online will cost you $1 and 15 minutes $1.80.

Where? 24/7 Convenience stores are scattered everywhere in Melbourne CBD

** If you have a smartphone but no internet - Federation Square has free Wifi as well as the State Library.
*** If you don't own a smartphone and need to go online you can go to the State Library on Swanston and use the computers for free, there might be a queue but it's free…

4. Street performers
There are many street performers in the CBD who will definitely appreciate a gold coin donation.

5. Photo World - Arcade Games

If you're tired of playing games on a small touch screen and sending crazy birds to destroy helpless pigs isn't appealing anymore – check Photo World.

Photo World has many different Arcade Machines that cost $1-$2 for a game. Some of the games are more for fun whilst with the others you can potentially win a prize.

Where? 283 – 297 Bourke St (take the escalator located between Rebel Sports and Crazy John's)

6. Reject Shop
Not surprisingly Reject Shop has ample goodies for $2, from confectionery and soft drinks to stationery, candles, makeup and more.

Where? 283 Bourke Street

7.Scratchie cards
Wouldn't it be great if you turned your $2 to $10,000? According to A Current Affair cheaper tickets are more likely to have a win but it will be a smaller win so buying a $1 or a $2 Scratchie is actually in your favour.

Sure it's still a gamble and you might not win anything but Scratchies are fun and it's only $2!

Where? Everywhere there's a Tattslotto sign.

8. Arthur Daley's

Arthur Daley's is basically a massive $2 shop (which is great because the CBD needs more $2 shops) and like the Reject Shop there are many bargains to be found.

Where? Basement, 37 Swanston Street

9. Australian souvenirs
On Swanston Street alone there are about four Australian souvenir shops and there are a few cute things for $2. The prices and quality vary slightly so I'd recommend checking a few of them before buying.

$2 will get you – four small postcards/ one keyring/ two magnets/ small road sign/ small koala or kangaroo/ stickers…

Where? Along Swanston Street
