There are many restaurants in the Perth CBD, and a fine example of one is the . With a long history of excellence and an extensive menu, this is one restaurant that offers top-notch dining.

Open for lunch or dinner, for small meals or large functions, 1907 is a unique experience. The building is a 100-year old history rich building- it was once a rag-trade factory, but was recently converted into the fashionable restaurant that is there now.

The atmosphere is electric- wonderful and sophisticated, warm and inviting. The waiters are fast and effective and they know their stuff. The restaurant is always busy and booked out, but the waiting time is not really that long- as long as you make sure you book before you go.

The menu is extensive and varied- there are lunch menus, special occasion menus and the dinner menus. If you book a function there is a different menu again. All of them are big and there is something for everyone. If you are going there for dinner, there are some entrées but they are mainly oysters. Fine for oyster lovers, not so much for everyone else. However the mains are a different story- there are many dishes that will suit everyone, there is even a rabbit dish- for $43 you get pan fried rabbit, with a sauce and baby veggies.

If you don't like the sound of that, then there is a delicious tomato risotto ($42) also plenty of beef/fish dishes. Interestingly though, there aren't any chicken dishes on the menu, which is a shame.

1907 also has some delicious desserts- the panna cotta is wonderful, served with the strange addition of popping candy on top, or try one of their signature desserts- a chocolate plate (consisting of bitter chocolate with cherry fondant, white chocolate ice-cream and nougat).

They are fully licensed too- so you can have a glass of wine with your meal. They also offer cognac or port to finish your meal with. However a word of warning- be aware of the price of the drinks before you order. They are extremely expensive- the price range on a glass of drink is between $12-$350 (one glass of Reserve Cognac). If you opt for a bottle of wine it is no better. The cheapest bottle is $50, for a bottle of Château Lafite (Bordeaux) $1390 and the most expensive is a whopping $6150 for a bottle of 1971 Dom Perignon Champagne.

So there are many positives about going to the . It is a great place to go for a function. Make sure to book well in advance, it fills up quickly. If you are looking for a treat, then this is a real contender, as every aspect of the dining experience is a delight. However it is expensive at times and you can rack up quite a bill quickly if you're not careful.
