The 1770 Marina is located near the mouth of Round Hill Creek, 1770. The most renowned function of the marina is its
Southern Barrier Reef tours , but there is a plethora of uses and businesses operating from the marina making it busy at most times of day. The general official website of the marina is
1770marina.com.au where details of its many businesses can be found as seen with the following collage:
That collage definitely doesn't represent every business operating from the marina. An example of a popular business at the 1770 Marina is the LARC tours. Amphibious vehicles are a major tourist attraction at the marina, known as a LARC vehicle, with tours frequently departing. For further information see
1770larctours.com.au . An image of such a vehicle is seen below:
The marina is located on Round Hill Creek which is definitely an appealing view, as it is wide and expansive and quite tropical. Some photos can be seen of the creek around the marina:
There is also a walking track near Round Hill Creek as seen at
Aussie Bushwalking - as the creek has a headland nearby. Apparently, it has perfect elevation and is thus suited to many fitness levels and ages.
While nine dollars may seem like a lot for a
vanilla slice, it is recommended by locals as award-winning. Having bought one to take home and savoured it I can really appreciate why. It's all in the filling, the pastry seems about right but the filling is so soft and creamy, that it is soft but holds together beautifully. Just melted in the mouth. The vanilla slice seen below was purchased from
the marina cafe .
So as one can see, the 1770 marina is a fairly happening place, it's a picturesque location but aside from its main purpose of boating has got some amazing shops and eateries, many of which are alternative and/or sustainably focused. Overall, the combination of the boats, scenery and quirky shops is a subtle but welcome blend which I appreciated towards the end of summer 2024-25.
