Located approximately 390 kms north of the Sunshine Coast, at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, holidaymakers will discover two little gems, the twin coastal towns of Agnes Water and 1770, positioned snugly along the Queensland coastline.
Both Agnes Water and 1770 offer visitors unspoilt beaches, rain forest and bush walking trails plus the feeling of being totally isolated and a million miles from civilisation.
The beautiful handcrafted Balinese teak doors marking the entrance
We recently enjoyed a fabulous mini holiday in Agnes Water and, of course, whenever on vacation the idea of someone else doing all the food preparation, cooking and washing up after, becomes really appealing. So, with a little bit of research, I discovered the
1770 Getaway Garden Cafe and Boutique.
Outdoor dining overlooking lush lawned gardens
The tranquil
1770 Getaway Garden Cafe and Boutique is set within the four acres of lush tropical gardens, as part and parcel of the
1770 Getaway Holiday Retreat luxury villas. The expression goes: '
you only get one chance to make a first impression' and with this in mind, visitors will be delighted - your memorable experience starts from the moment you enter through the handcrafted Balinese teak doors.
Undercover dining overlooks the lotus pond
The pathway to the Garden Cafe meanders surreptitiously through a hidden landscape of tropical plants, lending themselves to an all-encompassing feeling of peace and serenity.
On arrival at the 1770 Getaway Garden Cafe and Boutique diners will be delighted to discover a choice of either a laid-back outdoor dining area with umbrellas, overlooking lush tropical lawns and gardens or an undercover dining area, with mesmerising views of a pond adorned with floating lotuses and the gentle sounds of trickling water in the background. No matter where one sits, the choice will be a good one!
Dessert cabinet stocked with mouth-watering choices
We arrived at brunch time and were very excited to discover a delectable menu full of locally sourced fresh goodness, desserts and freshly - to die for - squeezed fruit juices. The dessert cabinet is stocked with mouth-watering home-made cakes, slices, tortes and pastries, with gluten and dairy free options available too.

Our brunch choices ranged from the deliciously healthy
Paleo Hero Muesli, rich in macadamias, coconut and berries, served with yoghurt and fresh fruit, to an
Açaí Summer Bowl, served with a sprinkling of paleo muesli to a
Breakfast Salsa with Haloumi, tomato, onion, avocado and herb salsa, served on sourdough, with eggs an optional extra. The totally divine freshly squeezed fruit juices rounded our brunch off perfectly.
Our brunch choices
Verdict: 10/10 our meals were served at record speed, the wait staff were super attentive and efficient and our meals? Absolutely awesome - my only regret is that we hadn't discovered this little gem on our first day in Agnes Water.
Loose leaf teas and an excellent blend of Campos Coffee is available for guests to enjoy all day too.
Unique artwork in the gardens
