14 North 108 East, is the brand new Vietnamese restaurant in the new dining precinct on Bradley St in Woden. On the night, I went to check it out, Bradley Street was busy with many people around. The Bavarian was packed, as was the Fenway Public House, Sushi Musa and Espresso Warriors. When we arrived at 14 North 108 East, there were a lot of full tables but luckily we managed to quickly get a table in the corner.
Almost immediately after sitting down, we were given the menu and we both ordered a cocktail to start the evening. I ordered the Singapore Sling as it's my favourite, while my partner ordered Mekong Market Mojito. We then ordered a few things to share between us including Sweet and Sour Chick pops, Shaken beef and Bahn Xeo.
Once we ordered, we didn't have to wait long at all before our food came out to the table. In fact, it came out so fast, the food was there before the drinks came. The little Sweet and Sour Chick pops came out first and I thought they were delicious, although my partner thought that they could have had a little more flavour.
Shortly after the Chick pops, the Bahn Xeo came out. The savoury turmeric pancake was filled with thit nuong, prawns and beansprouts. I really enjoyed the crispy pancake and also the filling. After the Bahn Xeo was brought out, our cocktails finally arrived at the table. For once, I picked a good cocktail and enjoyed my cocktail more than my partners.
Shortly after the Shakin Beef came out. This dish included scotch fillet steak, stir-fried with onion, capsicum and special house-made black pepper sauce. I also really enjoyed this dish, especially the perfectly cooked beef. Although, I have to admit it wasn't what I picture when I think of Vietnamese food. Still, it was delicious.
We both agreed that we really enjoyed dinner, the food was full of flavour and texture, while the cocktails complemented the food. The service was also very good, and we never had to wait for service. This all made for a lovely night out, and ensured we would return again to 14 North 108 East for dinner again!
