The energetic and fun musical "13 The Musical" was back at the Independent Theatre in North Sydney for a weekend. It was a show which children and adults could enjoy equally. The whole cast consisted of teenagers, who showed off their various talents. It was very professional and impressive.

The story follows 12-year-old Evan Goldman, who had to move to a small town just before his Bar Mitzvah. Unfortunately, he is so eager to have the perfect party, that he loses sight of his real friends. It's a story about growing up and learning that having real friends is more important than being popular.

The main character of the story struggled a lot to find a balance between being intelligent and a geek and making as many friends as possible.

The journey of the main character showed, that at first, he tried to play everybody for his own purposes. However, that behaviour led to him losing the only two people who really cared about him. In the end, he had to find redemption by giving heartfelt apologies and changing his ways.

The best part of the show was the "football players". The three boys really immersed themselves in the role and they were the comic relief of the show. The musical made for a fun evening out and the talented teens were rewarded by thunderous applause.
