This 11th annual
Christmas Day BYO picnic lunch in Melbourne will be held at the
Queen Victoria Gardens, St Kilda Rd, Melbourne; on Christmas Day
from 12pm to 3pm. Head for the big tree (the Newcomers Network banner will be hanging from the tree) next to 3 palm trees opposite the Queen Victoria Arts Centre (building with a spire) on St Kilda Rd, in the city.
Absolutely everyone is welcome, be you a newcomer, expatriate, repatriate, migrant, international student; a Christmas Day orphan, as it has been coined. That includes single, married, tourists, locals, and so on, no matter what your age, race or religion. Rain, hail or shine, this party is happening!
It's free to attend, but you do need to bring your own everything, i.e. your bike, footballs, cricket bat and balls, frisbees; anything that aids socialising and having fun. Wear a homemade tag with your first name (just a sticker will be fine) and don't forget to ward off the summer sun by bringing your sunnies, hat and sunscreen. Most importantly don't forget to bring your picnic food and beverages (perhaps even some to share) and mats and chairs to sit on if you wish.
This year's event is hosted by Sue Ellson who will be attending. Why not make it a record year and join in some community fun. Check the
website for more details and stay in touch via the
Facebook page and
Facebook Event page for updates.
