If your idea of a nice winter is not freezing your toes outside or staying home watching day time T.V; then perhaps take the opportunity to learn something new and get crafty with these ideas which can all be done in the coziness of your living room.

1. Yoga
There are several videos or tutorials on the internet to help you learn new poses or start from the beginning and work your way up to more advanced poses. You can also purchase or hire an instructional CD. Your body will feel great and you will improve your circulation and posture and you don't need to be jogging with Jack Frost to exercise a bit.[BREAK]

2. Drawing or Painting
Take a class in a library or art school and learn how to paint or draw; you will not only become more skilled but you will meet some new people.

If you prefer you can also get an instructional book or video to guide you through, why not invite some friends and crack open a bottle of wine and have a chat while you work on a new piece.[BREAK]
3. Writing
Again the internet is your friend! You can find plenty of tutorials and forums to help you through. If you want something more formal contact your local arts college or look for an online course and finally write that sci-fi novel, an autobiography, travel memoir or start your own blog.[BREAK]
4. Cooking or Baking
Some of the more difficult and time consuming recipes are winter ones, so take advantage and teach yourself from your favourite cook book or world cuisine, read cooking journals online or search for tips and kitchen tricks. Once you have cooked something, you can always throw a pot luck dinner with friends or invite family to sample your magic.[BREAK]
5. Learn a new languageIf you are persistent enough, you can slowly teach yourself a new language. Again if you want something ongoing and formal contact your local college and check out their language programmes.[BREAK]

6. Play an InstrumentIf you already play something, you can always polish your skills or create a new song. If you have always wanted to play an instrument, then this season is perfect for it! Get warm and learn how to play some soul warming tunes.[BREAK]

7. Redecorate, organise your homeThe more time we spend at home, the more we notice small things that may need fixing. Use this time to paint your bedroom, redecorate the kitchen or bathroom, get the kids to organise their toys, get crafty and creative and make new decorations or storage items.[BREAK]

8. Learn how to use a computer Teach yourself or enrol in a computer course. It can be a general computer course, social media or a specific software which might be handy for personal projects or work.[BREAK]
9. Beauty TreatmentsInstead of becoming big foot whilst watching TV all winter, teach yourself how to cut or trim your own hair, do your nails, learn new make up routines, prepare your own facials using natural ingredients or even learn how to give a massage or aromatherapy.[BREAK]

10. MeditateLearn some ancient techniques on how to calm your mind and relax your body; you might need these skills when summer is back and life becomes a bit more hectic.
