The karaoke bar and restaurant is tucked away in a downstairs venue off George Street, and is easy to miss. Thankfully there is a large poster advertising the famous green tea soft serve to guide your way- just head down the stairs and head for the bar.
If you enter from the restaurant entrance, there is also a convenient sign depicting just a green ice-cream and an arrow sign. So eloquent, and a testament to how popular it is.
Ask for the green tea soft serve cone at the bar and they'll whip it off for you in a jiffy. Whilst I'm not the biggest fan of Mizuya cocktails, the bar is uncannily good at making beautiful, delicious soft serve ice-cream.
My friend got a bit too enthusiastic and licked off the top of the serving before I could snap my photograph, but I swear it looked perfect before she got to it!
The ice-cream has that lovely green tea flavour- a little bit bitter, but softened by the sweetness of the ice-cream itself- and I love it even in winter. It feels lighter than most soft serves (heaven forbid one compare the Mizuya soft serve to those served by fast food joints) and is a great snack for when you're passing through George Street between meals.
