Zest 89 Cafe & Bar in Glen Waverley is a hive of activity on the weekends. In the mornings, there is a wide variety of breakfast fare, and of course very good coffee. There is the traditional bacon and eggs on toast, or the healthy bircher muesli. I like to try something a little more unusual, and I found that the oven baked field mushrooms on toast, with goat's cheese and dukkah spice, made a tasty and interesting alternative to the norm. The wait time is usually pretty good, although it can get very busy of a morning.

Zest 89 serves Veneziano Forza blend coffee, but you can also get a variety of single origin coffees. I recommend trying the single origin, particularly if you're into interesting coffees - they taste better and have more variety. A different single origin is poured each day. The baristas here are more talented than the usual outer-suburban coffeemakers.
There are usually about four different types of steak on offer at Zest 89 at dinner time, and there's always a fancy seafood dish. Being a vegetarian, I can't vouch for the excellence or otherwise of these meals, but with the variety of animal products on offer at Zest 89, I'm sure at least one of them is delicious.
Zest can become very busy in the mornings and evenings, when people are easing themselves into consciousness and partying down respectively - it's a popular venue for the young outer-suburban not-exactly-hipsters who populate the giant houses of the Waverley area.
Zest 89 can be found at 89 Kingsway, Glen Waverley. It is open from 7 am until late on weekdays and 8 am until late on weekends. They have a rather sleek website
here, and also a
Facebook page.
