Located 255 Swanston Street, Your Thai Rice and Noodle Bar is a clean, casual stop for a sit-in meal - not quite fast as fast food and its ambience is far too laidback-trendy to be a formal diner. Its bright green and orange interior and sign are unmistakable! You can find 'Your Thai' quite easily if you're coming from Melbourne Central station.
I had the opportunity to try a few items on the menu recently: Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Your Thai Shrimp-Paste Fried Rice, Mango Smoothie and Thai Milk Tea.
Tom Yum Noodle SoupOne of the popular Thai dishes, I had to try this. It's not too spicy as the Tom Yum soup in Thailand itself, but there is a generous serving. It's probably good for it's price (seafood $13.50, Chicken/Veggie $9.50).
Your Thai Shrimp-Paste Fried Rice -
recommendedThis dish has quite a nice flavoursome rice with an equally appealing condiment combination of nuts, chilli and carrots. A fried egg befittingly accompanies this fried rice. It's probably the nicest dish I've had in this restaurant.
Mango SmoothieFor a smoothie, it's not overpoweringly sweet and its got a faint mango taste. Certainly not the best mango smoothie you'll ever have, but this drink is still legit.
Thai Milk TeaIf you've had the Malaysian
teh tarik before, then this one tastes very similar. This drink is probably a little sweeter.
Overall, Your Thai's got nice presentation and a comfy atmosphere. It's probably a good place to stop by for lunch. It gets busy inside Your Thai with waiters and waitresses constantly on the move, but drinks and food make their way to your table pretty fast.
As far as cuisine authenticity goes, it's satisfactory.
