Yok Thai Tapas & Wine is a Thai fusion restaurant in Cremorne, where everything looks good and tastes great. Head there for lunch or dinner, or just a snack with some drinks. Sample some dishes from their tapas menu or stick to the mains, either way you'll manage to get a good feed at Yok Thai.
The tapas menu is the highlight of Yok Thai, choose between crispy zucchini flowers stuffed with chicken, prawn, garlic, and black pepper, or twice cooked pork belly, caramelised palm sugar, and chill Nham-jim. Or don't choose between meals and try them all. This tapas menu is great for sharing and means you can try a bit of everything. You'll pay for some dishes per person, and others will feed a table of four. All the food is presented beautifully.
The main meals are a bit more traditional. There are curries, stir fries, noodle dishes, and more. Like all Thai food they usually have a good chill kick, and well as the delicious flavours of lime juice, fish sauce and coriander. Between the mains and the tapas menu you'll easily be able to find plenty of food to feed the table.
If you're popping into Yok Thai for a drink you're in luck, because they have an excellent wine list. It includes wines from all over Australia and New Zealand, as well as some other international wines. Grab a tapas dish or some of their nibbles, like Thai spicy beer nuts, oysters or Thai shoestring fries.
Yok Thai is in a weird spot, directly across the road from Woolworths, your view from the large open windows will be midday or late night shoppers. Once you're inside the location does little to spoil the vibe. Yok Thai is superbly decorated with old books, hanging lights, buckets of flowers, and there is a warm glow over the whole restaurant. You can watch the chefs at work, or just take a seat on one of the cosy couches.
Yok Thai may not be purely traditional Thai food, but it has some of the tastiest food around. Make sure you at least sample the tapas menu, but everything is worth a try. The meals range from about $15 to $35, and tapas dishes start at $3.50 each. Next time you're after some tasty Thai, try Yok Thai.
