Having already registered (click here to sponsor/register), my brother Dave has realistic expectations. Individually aiming to raise $1,000[/LINK] (and already 86% of the way there) - by shaving his monstrous beard and wild hair off (my family currently call him 'The Wild Man of Borneo'). Only problem is he and his family will be travelling overseas soon afterwards and his passport image shows him full-beard and hair - will border security let him in sans beard and hair?
'World's Greatest Shave' has a humourous way of promoting its event on 13-16 March 2014 (image courtesy & copyright of Leukaemia Foundation)
World's Greatest Shave is reportedly Leukaemia Foundation's most significant annual fundraising event - raising around 50% of the funds Leukaemia Foundation needs to continue undertaking research and providing practical and emotional support to people with blood cancer (free of charge). The fundraising goal for this year is $20,500,000 (at time of writing, $1,828,460 had been raised through online sponsorship).
Dave's booked into his local World's Greatest Shave event location (click here to find one near you) on 15 March for his 'great shave'.
One of the many positives for those who register to participate in the World's Greatest Shave 2014 is there is no charge when you book your shave/colour. If you are in doubt, you can wait until the day and pay $20 to shave and/or $5 to colour your hair with all proceeds donated directly to World's Greatest Shave 2014 (Leukaemia Foundation).
This is lots of fun to do with children - colouring their hair wild and wacky colours, not turning them into little baldies! The Leukaemia Foundation are incredibly helpful with supplying coloured hair chalks, hair ties, smocks and other fun stuff for groups.
