The
World's Funniest Island will soon be in Sydney Harbour, temporarily taking the title away from the moderately funny
Shag Island and the positively hilarious
Intercourse Island.
The old colonial prison and naval dockyard of
Cockatoo Island from October 17-18, as part of
Crave Sydney, will be transformed into a circus of laughter. The unique buildings, parklands, tunnels and an old bomb shelter will be used as stages for more than 200 performances by local and international comedians.
The two day comedy event will follow the format of a music festival with plenty of cool bars, good food and quirky market stalls scattered throughout the Island.
Aussie favourites like
Merrick and Rosso,
Akmal and Jimeoin will take the stage.
Joining them will be a high profile line-up of international stars such as British comedy legends,
The Goodies and
Alexei Sayle.
Trio US Muslim comics,
Allah Made Me Funny, who had sell-out London shows will also be making a special appearance.
And for the first time, in a world exclusive, Pakistan’s only English-speaking stand-up comedian, Sami Shah, will make his international debut.
Ensuring that every part of your body is aching of laughter, comical chefs will also have a cook-off match with
Bitchin Kitchen. The hilarity will continue on with funny and filthy stories of
Erotic Fan Fiction and over at
Dr Sketchy’s Anti Class for the world's only burlesque drawing class.

And the great news is that World's Funniest Island will return as annual spring event.
