Wonderful Life by Helen Ward (2007) or Snutt the lft or A Small but Significant Chapter in the Life of the Universe.

This gorgeously illustrated picture book is the story of an Ift, a small bilby-like creature, by the name of Snutt. Snutt wants to explore the universe and finds a wonderful new planet full of amazing plants and animals but finds himself lonely because he has no-one to share them with. Then he meets a fellow explorer from another far off world and they admire the new planet together.

The text is full of words that are great fun to read aloud- "euphoric florifors and sticky-footed flewfimols". I fell in love with the beautiful pictures and the simple, whimsical story.

In short, this book is wonderful "like the universe and everything in it."
