South Australia has amazingly 16 distinct wine regions. All the different wine regions are very close together, so it makes it easy for you to do a grand winery tour. It makes for a great day out with friends, and your partner will enjoy it too! It is a wonderful experience to visit these leafy regions and taste all the wines you could imagine.



Adelaide and the Adelaide Plains are home to wineries like Penfolds . You'll find the National Wine Centre of Australia in Adelaide. It's a great place to learn about wine and to taste it. You'll also discover discover cellar doors and tasting rooms in and around Adelaide city, giving you plenty of wine tasting opportunities close to the shops and the drive is also well worth it.

The Adelaide Hills

Just a very short drive from Adelaide city, it's a great place to spend a day touring cellar doors.

Barossa

There are two wine regions combined in the Barossa region. Each area has its speciality in wines. Eden Valley has a reputation for amazing Riesling and the Barossa Valley is also home to some of the world's best Shiraz.

Clare Valley

Clare Valley is a further north from the Barossa. Clare Valley is famous for Riesling and you'll know why once you try it. You can taste this amazing Riesling at many of the cellars door. I guarantee once you have done this, you will come back for more.

Fleurieu Peninsula

McLaren Vale , Langhorne Creek, Currency Creek and Southern Fleurieu are all wine regions on the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide. You'll be absolutely spoilt for choice with this array of excellent cellar doors.

Kangaroo Island

Stop at a Kangaroo Island cellar door or a distillery for tasty liqueurs. Wherever you are on the island, you'll be near a winery that will please your taste buds. After tasting these samples you might never leave the island.

Limestone Coast

Coonawarra, Padthaway, Mount Benson and Wrattonbully are on the Limestone Coast. The Limestone Coast is renowned for great, robust wines, thanks to its unique terra rossa soil (soil that gives the grapes a special flavour due to the limestone layers).

You'll want to taste wines from Wynn's Coonawarra Estate, Zema Estate and Hollick Wines in the Coonawarra. Try more wines from Padthaway Estate Winery, Mt Benson Premium Estate Wines, Cape Jaffa and Russett Ridge.

The Riverland

The Riverland is located on the Murray River. It is home to some well-known and loved wineries. Visit Berri Estate, Banrock Station Wine and Wetlands Centre and Angove's Family Winemakers.

Southern Flinders Ranges

The Southern Flinders wine region produces some surprising wines. Places like Remarkable Wines, Bundaleer Wines and Bartagunyah Estate have even more wine for you to taste.
