Get back to nature with My Fairy Garden toys
My daughter had the chance recently to review some of the "My Fairy Garden" series of edutainment toys. I use the term "edutainment", because many of the toys in this series come with real seeds, and give the child the opportunity to grow a real little garden. Combined with the whimsical world of fairies, small creatures, secret doors, and a little imagination, this is the perfect series for children ages four to about eight years old.

This series is brilliant; my daughter loves it. At a stretch it could be gender neutral; my younger boys enjoyed playing with the real water and moat around the base of the lily pad, making the frog float on the lily pads, discussion ensued around floating items and sinking items... still though, decidedly fairy-world focused, so it depends on what your boys like. The only thing that I didn't love about this set, is that the plastic pots are not a very natural colour. I reckon they were going for a clay pot colour, but ended up being a very unnatural, bright peachy-orange. The kids didn't seem to notice or care about that.

This prize package draw includes the Lily Pad Gardens: Lily Pad Gardens is the address where every fairy would love to live. This enchanting flowerpot house has its own moat and draw-bridge. Flowers (not included) can be grown in the top part of the pot and beneath is the spacious fairy home. Grow beautiful flowers or maybe some magical fairy fruits while your fairy lives underneath! The kit includes the flowerpot house, three floating lilypads, a sun flower windmill, a packet of grass seeds, a fairy figurine ("Lily", the Summer Fairy), her frog companion and an "activity manual".

The prize package also includes My Fairy Garden Secret Fairy Door: Bring some magic into your room with this enchanting playset designed to develop a love and understanding of nature. Recreate the beautifully illustrated story (included) that describes the year in the life of a tree and the changing seasons, using your own fairy figurine and wall stickers. Stay cozy through winter, frolic through Spring, play in the Autumn leaves and stay cool through Summer! Your fairy and hedgehog will have a year full of magical adventures with the Secret Fairy Door. Includes: Fairy Door, Key and Ribbon Bracelet, Fairy Figurine, Hedgehog Figurine, Fairy Mushroom, one set of repositionable 'Changing Seasons' wall stickers, one image of the Fairy House interior, six fixing tabs, and one set of sticky fixers. Does not contain seeds.
