As if the historic waterfront charm of Williamstown didn’t make it destination enough, the visitor-friendly haven hosts a monthly craft market. That means even in the winter months, you can browse up to 100 vendors’ stalls while enjoying hot food, live music, and a sublime view of adjacent Hobsons Bay.

From soy candles and glassware to jewelry and wooden toys, the market’s vendors focus is on the hand-crafted and homemade. Whether you’re looking for straight-ahead art or something functional to boot, the offerings are diverse and quirky. And don’t forget the food, including handmade fudge, gourmet hot dogs, and the pancake-like Dutch treats poffertjes. There are even snacks available for your loyal canine friends.

Now in its 25th year, the runs from 10am to 4pm on the third Sunday of each month. You can reach Williamstown by train or car, or even treat yourself to a ferry ride from St. Kilda Pier, Southbank, and other city locations. It’s a great excuse to visit a quaint suburb that offers plenty of delectable eats, diverse businesses, and well-maintained history. And if you’re a crafter with products to sell, you can apply for a stall yourself.
