The High Street Kensington branch is the largest of the UK's burgeoning collections of
Whole Foods Markets. And it's pretty big.
Three floors, including a basement. Which means three floors of carefully selected fresh produce, including a cheese section (cordoned off to keep the temperature out and the smell in); more pulses and dried fruits and nuts than you'd find in your average health food store – along with all the associated speciality products; a fresh fruits section; a section for exotic teas, coffees, chocolates and sweets; various fresh meats and fish to select from in the butchery section - and dried and cured ones, mind; along with a take away salad bar and a section of freshly ready made meals that you can just heat up - and voilà you're a professional cook.
And a fresh bakery conveniently located at the front of the store where the smell of bread baking is most effective as a welcome for passing shoppers.
Upstairs there's a food court so that you can eat their goods in. It's just as complete as the choice downstairs, with a sushi bar and an oyster bar, a yogurt bar and a mini Italian restaurant. One of the classiest of all London's supermarkets.
