Centennial Park has a lot to offer year round from bird watching to cycling, and more. Special events are also part of the park and here's some of what's on in the next few months.

The Great Big Story Book

A colourful comedy show outdoors is a highlight this January for the kids with Tiddalik the Frog - a famous Aboriginal legend brought to life by performers singing songs and telling the story of this amphibian who drinks all of the world's water. Within a 3D pop-up storybook, life-size puppets and music are used to unfold the tale in this theatre experience that has already been a big hit in other venues around the country.

It's on from 9-23 January (weekdays only) and runs for 45mins from 11am. The cost is $15 per child with accompanying adults and under 2 year olds free. Head to the Learning Centre in the Education Precinct off Dickens Drive.

Astronomy in the Park

Try some stargazing this summer and experience a different perspective on life. An evening of learning from astrophysicists and astronomers awaits as well as light refreshments and a short presentation on the wonder up above.

Look to the skies and relax from hectic city life. This is on two key dates - 9 January and 13 February, 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Meeting point is the Learning Centre. Cost is $25 and includes drinks and snacks.

Bookings are essential for both of the above events. Tickets can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com.au.

Moonlight Cinema

Enjoy classic, cult and contemporary movies as well as advance screenings of new movies in this outdoor season at the Belvedere Amphitheatre from today until 29 March (bar Mondays). Entrance is on the corner of Carrington Drive and Broome Avenue.

So grab some friends, take a picnic and settle on the lawn for a relaxing evening in the open air after sunset. Tickets can be purchased from www.moonlight.com.au.

Horse Riding Camps

Centennial Stables is providing a fun-filled holiday camp for beginners and experienced riders that involves learning how to handle and care for horses as well as gaining stable management skills. Children will enjoy 2 rides per day, play loads of games and get to decorate horses in fancy dress.

It's on Mondays to Fridays from 5-26 January in the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre for children 6 years and over. Meeting point at Pavilion B. For enquiries and bookings phone 9360 5650 or go online to www.centennialstables.com.au.
Love on the Lawn

Not a promiscuous event as the name might suggest but a 1 day wedding extravaganza that will showcase a range of wedding products and will be the biggest wedding festival to ever hit our city. Previously held in the Hunter Valley, it is coming to Sydney due to high demand.

There will be wedding tips and advice, food sampling and wine tasting, live entertainment, music and bands, celebrity MC's and fashion shows. Pamper lounges for the ladies and a man cave for the boys to chill out in.

It's on 1 March from 10am - 4pm at the Brazilian Fields East section of the park. Adults are $23.50 each or you can get a VIP package for $63.50 that includes entry, front row reserved Fashion Show seat to all parades, VIP gift bag, bubbles and canapés during the parades. Tickets can be purchased at www.stickytickets.com.au/18906.
