Tired of the hustle and bustle of the city? Want to go somewhere quiet and friendly, but still with plenty to do and see? Echuca is a small town located on the Murray River, and the perfect holiday destination for families, friends, or even individuals.

You're on the Murray. Why not take a trip down it in one of Echuca's famous paddlesteamers ? The journey will take an hour, but it will fly by as you relax with the wind in your hair. Perfect on your own or with friends.

If you've got enough time, why not visit Billabong Ranch ? Billabong Ranch offers horse riding, bouldering, mini golf, archery, and pedal boats. There's so much to do you might want to visit more than once.

For the motoring enthusiasts, a visit to the National Holden Motor Museum is not to be missed. With over 40 vehicles to see, the Museum is a great stop if you're interested in cars.

Echuca King Pin Bowling is also worth a visit. Yes, yes, I know, you can go bowling at home, but if you go during the day you might very well have the place all to yourself. Take a group of friends and go crazy. Plus, on Friday and Saturday nights they have disco bowling.

When you're tired after a long day, why not visit one of Echuca's bookshops? With a bookshop and two secondhand bookshops it's easy to settle down after a busy day and relax.

There are plenty of familiar places to eat in Echuca, such as McDonald's, Taco Bill, KFC and Subway. But for the more adventurous among us, why not try something new?

For lunch, look no further than the famous Beechworth Bakery. From the 'Ned Kelly' pie to delicious snickerdoodles , mouthwatering iced jam doughnuts to warm hot chocolate, there's something for everyone. Why not sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view of the river as you have your meal?

For dinner, I heartily recommend Antonio's on the Port . Antonio's offers a fine selection of Italian food, at reasonable prices (generally between $18-22 for a main). The atmosphere is relaxed and the waiters are very friendly. Check in on Facebook and receive a complimentary garlic or herb focaccia. Mmm...

For those of you with a sweeth tooth, a visit to the Echuca Chocolate Company and the Echuca Heritage Sweet Company is not to be missed. Exquisite boxes of chocolate can be purchased from the Echuca Chocolate Company to be given to friends and family back home (or you could keep it all to yourself). The Echuca Heritage Sweet Company sells some chocolate, but you'd be better off heading straight for the jars of delicious boiled lollies instead. Each jar is between $4-6, depending on size, and well worth it.

There are plenty of motels and bed and breakfasts in Echuca, but if you're looking for a stay with a difference why not rent a houseboat or stay on a farm ?
