Heading down to Margaret River and looking for a suitable camp site? Don't go past the camp ground. Located 2km north of the Margaret River Town Centre, this place is close to town, yet feels like you are miles away in the bush.

Deciding to have an extended weekend, we made the drive down from Perth on the Friday night and upon arrival found our information pack and wood pile at the back door of reception. Once locating our camp site, first step was to light a fire in the pit provided at each site, and get set up.

The Bush Retreat was a great central base to explore the region, have a night out at the Settlers Tavern and mingle with the locals. The site is well maintained and spread out to suit families, young couples or backpackers. Having a no noise policy after 9pm also helps. The undercover area was fantastic for playing a game of ping pong, providing shelter if it rained while also giving us the facilities to cook if we forgot anything. The bike riding trails were what attracted us to the camp site and with tracks for varying abilities, it really met our needs. We will definitely be back.

Highlights:
Bushwalking/hiking
Mountain bike riding
Nature spotting
Having marshmallows around the fire
Exploring the region
Having beautiful coffee each morning from the café reception
