On February 15th and 16th, breeders and their brood gather at Madison Square Garden for the
134th Annual Westminster Dog Show—"America's First and Only Champions Only Dog Show." Over 2500 dogs from 173 different breeds and varieties compete for top honors in America's most prestigious canine event.
The Westminster Dog Show is one of the nation's oldest continuously-run sporting events, second only to the Kentucky Derby. This year, three new American Kennel Club-recognized breeds will be welcomed into the competition: Irish Red and White Setter, Pyrenean Shepherd, and Norwegian Buhund.
Judging of groups takes place from 8am until 6pm each day. The best of each group—Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, Sporting, Working, and Terrier—are invited to the grand finale at 7:30 on Tuesday night. Primped and proper, they'll gather in the center ring for a chance at the coveted Best in Show title.
