Looking for a night out that combines a bit of luxury with some great discounts? The penny pinchers amoung us (and let's face it, in these times of rising interest rates and skyrocketing rent prices, that includes many of us) can have their luxury and save money too, at the Palace Westgarth Cinema in Northcote.
In this beautifully restored 1920s Art Deco theatre you can catch the best new releases, art house flicks and film festival contenders, all while ensconced in a seat so comfy that you won't be longing for an inflatable ring halfway through the movie.
As you sit back and take in the spectacular architecture of this grand theatre of yesteryear it will feel as elegant as a night at the opera. But you won't be needing any opera glasses because his theatre is kitted out with the big screen, Dolby surround sound and all the fixings of a modern day cinema. A glass of wine from the fully licensed bar or a Choctop from the candy bar will complete your movie going experience.
The Westgarth Cinema is part of the Palace Cinema chain, which is where those lovely discounts come into it. You can join the movie club for an annual fee of $19, which virtually pays itself off immediately as you receive a free ticket upon joining or renewing an existing Palace membership, a free ticket on your birthday and $12.50 admission for you and a friend all year round. It makes paying upwards of $18 for a movie ticket a thing of the past. There are also great membership offers for seniors, students and under 18s.
The cinema is located on the vibrant Westgarth strip at 89 High Street, Northcote, surrounded by a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. Take the 86 tram to stop 28, or take the Epping or Hurstbridge train lines to the Merri or Westgarth stations. Street parking is also available.
