formerly known as Caffe Prada
I had the pleasure of checking out the newly renamed West End Coffeehouse in downtown Winston-Salem. It was previously known as Caffe Prada. Apparently, new owners took over about a year ago and recently renamed it in hopes of changing the previous stuffy reputation.

The place is cozy, I did notice a piano in the back, so they must have live music. There is a lot of outdoor seating, which is nice. They offer all kinds of coffee drinks, I opted for the maple bacon latte- it sounds weird, but it is so good! They offer things you don't see everywhere- italian sodas, and french sodas. I had to ask what a french soda is: italian soda with a little cream splashed in. I tried the rose. I enjoy floral tastes, but my husband thought it tasted like a sachet. A big draw for me is the in house made gelato. They have about 10 flavors, we tried two and they were fantastic. Some of the best gelato I've had. The flavors are ambitious, but they deliver. The owners are extremely nice and friendly. They have wine there, so I am assuming it is a wine bar, as well. I am not a huge wine fan, so did not look into this. They also offer baked goods, of course.

I was talking with the owners and they mentioned quite a few local businesses that they partner with, bakeries, etc- which is very hip. They try to support local business, which is great. I don't find myself downtown a lot, but I am finding more and more reasons to venture there!

They have free wi-fi, so if you are looking for a place to get some work done, they have plenty of space. I also noticed a stack of board games, which makes me think it is a fun place to hang out- no matter what your age.

I am going back this weekend for one of the maple bacon lattes- I have a feeling this might become a regular habit.

Is it possible to describe the maple bacon latte? Does it taste like bacon? It sounds very interesting.
