The
Women's Cancer Foundation's annual fun run aims to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and is a great way to get active for a cause. Money raised will go towards vital research for the treatment of ovarian cancer, which affects 1 in 70 women in Australia.
The run follows 'The Tan' path which circles
King's Domain and will be held on Sunday 28th February. The King's Domain is located adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and covers over 106 acres of lawn and parkland. It is in easy walking distance of Flinders Street Station or a quick tram ride down St. Kilda Road.
Participants can choose from a timed 4km and 8km run, or a social 4km walk at a more leisurely pace. Teams and family groups are also encouraged to participate, as well as children. Prizes will even be awarded in various categories, though each participant will receive a certificate regardless of speed.
You can sign up for the run
online (up until the 25th February) or on the actual day, with check-in beginning at 8am. Each participant will also receive a t-shirt and a bottle of water upon starting. The runs will begin around 10am and a barbeque will be waiting at the end to reward your efforts. There's no better reason for trading in your lazy Sunday to go for some vigorous and healthy exercise.
