If you've always wondered what a pub might look like if it had a large tree inside it, then Waxy O'Connor's in central London is the place to go. OK, I know that up to now you've never
really wondered what a pub with a tree inside looks like - though now I've mentioned it, you might be getting curious.
Tree or no tree,
Waxy O'Connor's is still a drinking establishment worth dropping in on, whether it's for an orange juice, half a shandy or a full on where's-the-toilet-my-stomach-is-beginning-to-churn drinking session.
It's a large pub, so large in fact that you can enter it through a door on one street (Rupert Street) and exit through a door on another street (Wardour Street).
Once inside, before ordering your drink, take some time to explore the place and marvel at Waxy's wonderful décor - though mind you don't get lost in its maze of rooms and stairways.
There are four distinctly different bars spread over six levels.
The design of the place is quirky to say the least, and then there's the tree. A big tree. Inside the pub.
Besides a decent range of liquid refreshments, Waxy's also does food - on
the menu you'll find nachos, soups, oysters, sandwiches, steaks, pastas, sausage and mash, pies, Irish stew, burgers - and they do tasty roasts on Sundays too.
The place hosts occasional live music shows, together with other entertainment events. Click

Waxy O'Connor's is located bang in the heart of the West End, between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. It gets incredibly busy at the weekends and so if you're more of a quiet-beer-in-the-corner type, it's probably not the place for you.
But if you like a lively pub with good service and an interior that you'll never forget, be sure to pay this place a visit. And make sure you don't leave without seeing that tree.
