I have always know Waverley Cinema as Pinewood Cinemas, which I suppose was a reference to the Pinewood shopping Centre where the cinema is located. Even these days when organising to go to the cinema with friends we always refer to it as Pinewood.
Originally the cinema opened as a theatre restaurant in the 1970s and since then has evolved into a four theatre cinema, and is still a small family owned business.
There are 4 cinemas two on the ground floor Cinema 1 has 187 seats and Cinema 2 has 80 seats. The other two cinemas are on the first floor and are very small which have just 52 seats each
Movies sell from $6.00 for selected sessions to $11. The lobby of the theatre sells all the normal goodies, and there are quiet a few tables and chairs to sit at while waiting and the staff are very friendly.
Keep an eye out for the specials on the website and there are also ten Waverley Cinema double passes that can be won each week if you care to visit their website
Booking - the theatres are very small, so it can be wise to book Location - the cinema itself is tucked away and almost hidden by the huge AGL office complex next door, it has very little street frontage but you can see the doors from the street. Getting there - The cinema is located near the end of the inbound and outbound of the Monash Freeway Blackburn Road off ramps on Blackburn road. It is difficult to get to by public transport however there is a bus that runs along Blackburn road Parking - Can be a bit tricky before 6pm their website has detailed diagrams about where to find free parking during the day.
Disabled Access Assessment - There is no elevator to the first floor although there is a seat lift up the stairwell, as the stairs are quite steep, just ask staff for help, not suitable for a wheelchair Disabled toilets - not suitable for a wheelchair although there were rails and the door to one cubicle opened outward to allow easier access Aisle access/width (1 metre) to allow ease of movement - ok Proximity to to disabled parking - right out the front of the cinema entrance
